A Team Built on Lived Experience and Professional Expertise
At 4SEND, we’re proud to have parent carers with lived experience at the heart of our team. Their insight and understanding are invaluable, helping to shape everything we do.
Our wider team is made up of dedicated individuals from a range of backgrounds, including teachers, speech and language therapists, healthcare professionals, and other experienced volunteers. This mix of personal experience and professional knowledge means we’re able to offer well-rounded, informed support to families.
What brings us all together is a shared commitment to improving the lives of children, young people, and families in the SEND community.
We believe strongly in working together and learning from one another. That’s why we invest in ongoing professional development, making sure our team stays up to date with current research, good practice, and evolving needs. This commitment to continuous learning helps us provide the highest quality support to every family we work with.

Supporting SEND Families
Creating Lasting Change
In the UK, many parent carers of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) feel isolated and misunderstood. This can often be made worse by the judgement they experience from others, making it hard to find the understanding and support they need.
Many families also face financial challenges, while struggling to access the safe spaces and resources that could offer relief. This lack of support impacts their mental health and places extra pressure on already overstretched services.
Although there are some projects and services in place, these are often short-term and depend on limited funding. While they can offer essential support during their time, families are often left with nothing once they come to an end, back to feeling alone and without the help they need.
At 4SEND, we’re committed to changing this. We work to connect families with the organisations, professionals, and services that can support them. Our long-term vision is to create a dedicated SEND community hub, a safe, welcoming space where families can access support, attend events, find information, and connect with others who understand their experiences.
This hub will not only provide practical help but will also play a key role in improving mental health, reducing isolation, and making sure families continue to feel supported, long after temporary projects have ended.
Through building a strong, sustainable network, 4SEND is here to help families feel connected, empowered, and included in their communities.
